Acclaimed Estonian director Veiko Õunpuu starts shooting his new feature film The Last Ones tomorrow in Lapland. The western flavoured modern crime drama will be shot in August and September in Finnish and Norwegian Lapland, and in October in Tallinn, Estonia. The story is set in a small mining village, and the cast includes Estonian Pääru Oja and Finnish Tommi Korpela, Laura Birn, Elmer Bäck, Sulevi Peltola and Samuli Edelmann, among others.
The film, written by Õunpuu together with Heikki Huttu-Hiltunen and Eero Tammi and produced by Estonian Homeless Bob Productions and Bufo, is set to hit the screens in 2019. The film is supported by Estonian Film Institute, The Finnish Film Institute, Eurimages, The Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the European Union’s Creative Media program, and done in co-production with Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle and Lapland Film Commission.
