The Gravedigger’s Wife, the first feature drama directed by writer-director Khadar Ayderus Ahmed, will receive its world premiere in the 60th Cannes Critics’ Week.

Shot entirely in Djibouti, the film tells about a gravedigger and his family, who have to push themselves to the limits in order to reunite during times of misfortune. The film is produced by Bufo together with German Twenty Twenty Vision and French Pyramide Productions.

The production is long-awaited, and even awarded, before its official premiere: the film was developed at the Cannes Cinéfondation Residence in 2015, and it was awarded with post-production and distribution awards at Marrakech Film Festival’s Atlas Workshops in 2019.
