European Film Academy announced today the list of 50 European films, which will be recommended for a nomination for this year’s European Film Awards. The nominations will be announced on November 8th and the the 27th European Film Awards with the presentation of the winners will take place in Riga on December 13th.

Together with 4 other films, Concrete Night has been nominated for Nordic Council Film Prize 2014, the region’s most important film award. Pula Film Festival, one of Croatia’s most important film events, finished last Saturday with the awards ceremony and the main prize of the international programme going to Concrete Night. The jury stated that the Golden Arena award was awarded for the film ‘for successfully creating a unique atmosphere in a poetic and visually impressive manner.’

Actor Jari Virman has been awarded from his supporting role in Concrete Night at European Cinema Festival in Lecce, Italy. The festival, organised now for its 15th time, awarded him with the Officine Lab Award to the Best not leading Actor prize. Read more about the festival awards from here.

Youth film Korso, a debut feature by Akseli Tuomivaara will have its world premiere at Edinburgh Film Festival. The film will be screened in the new Teen Spirit programme presenting 6 feature and 6 short films aimed at the 15- 26 year old audience. The 68th edition of the festival will take place on June 19th-28th.

Kilpisjärvellä, a fulldome film directed by Axel Straschnoy and produced by Bufo, has been presented a Edith-Russ-Haus Award for Emerging Media Artists 2014.
